size matters
Hi everyone, I hope you are all well. I was just wondering what's the largest adult kingsnake any of you have or have seen. Pictures would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to get an idea of how large my cal king and MBK might get. Most of what I've read says they'll average 3-4 ft with some getting as large as 5-6 ft. I really hope mine at least hit the 5ft mark. The bigger the better I say.

Females get bigger then males, if you have a male that will be pushing it

The one i posted pictures of is a 5.5 male actually. He right around 6 years of ages so it is possible for them to get that big. But i will say it is the biggest male king snake i ever seen.

Because when he first pulled him out of the tote he wasn't sure what kind of mood he was in. It bit him one time and would not let go for over 40 minutes. We tried everything from running cold water of it to dangling a rat in front of it. Finally we had a neighbor blow cigarette smoke in it face to get it to release.

I've also heard that a drop or 2 of Listerine in their mouth is another way to get them to let go.

1 drop of whiskey anywhere near their nose and they let go. Mine occasionaly forgets I am not food. I have toiched him with ice and he will not let go but a drop of rye and he lets go instantly. I have also seen a guy ge a burm to release his face with vodka. See booze is always best

Would doing that(including listerine, cigarette smoke...etc) damage the snake in any way?

I doubt it would damage them. I wouldn't put it in their mouth though. That might not be good for them. I think the alcohol and smoke would hurt to breath in but probably wouldn't cause them damage. It's probably best to leave it to a last resort though.

Re: size matters
It's the vapor from the alcohol. I would think it would not gurt the snake to get a blast of booze once in a while. Imho it is safe to use. Much safer than tearing the snake off by grabbing its head. You only need a drop or 2.

We try that a couple times but it had it mouth open so far it wouldn't work. Plus it was a baby and we didn't want to hurt it. We had also tried vinegar and even a little soap and water and nothing worked. Then i remembered reading some where one time a guy got bit by and Retic and blew Cigar smoke in it face to get it to let go. Neither one of us smoked so we got his neighbor. The very second he blew a little puff of smoke in it face it release.
The one thing that to me was funny was the whole time it wasn't just biting him, but it was chewing on his hand.
