geckos and frogs

Hey all. I'm going out now so i don't have time to check any caresheets. I just got done building my vivarium (damn thats hard work) i'm giving it a week or two to let all the plants settle and get the environment steady before i add animals to it. What i've been thinking of are

Tokays
Leopard Geckos
Crested Geckos
Gargoyle Geckos
Red Eye Tree frogs
Dumpy frogs
it is a 29G Tall

could all of these live together? if so i will get one of each. If not i will get pairs of waht can live together. Also i can find dumpys ($36), red eyes($36), and leopard geckos($30), can you please tell me where i can get the rest. Those are the prices and everything so far (in USD) Thank you all for your help

P.S. Once i figure out how to make my pictures less kb, i will post pics of my vivarium.
P.M.S. waht is the difference between vivarium and terrarium. Isn't a terrarium with plants and animals and vivarium just plants?

No you can't, all of those have different humidity and temp requirements, and may not get along. They will stress each other out and you may end up with one really fat tokay.

Good luck in setting up your viv, but I suggest you stick with one species.

You are setting yourself up for certain disaster.

No offense but if I was building a vivarium Iwould defnitly have some hard core research done on what I was putting in there. Why rush? Why don't you choose a frog or a gecko, study it for a few weeks...read caresheets, talk to people and then purchase it?

And like Zoe said the Tokay will eat all those, Leopard geckos won't survive in a vivarium as they are more dry, more heat loving animals, and the rest simple won't thrive together.

A 29 gallon tall is hardly enough to hold a pair of anything either except maybe the smallest of geckos.

A 29 tall could hold some red-eye frogs, and a 29 long could hold a number of geckos.

Stick with one kind you like best, and research it lots. You'll be happy you did when you have nice, fat, healthy geckos or frogs!

the 29 gallon tall would be alright for a pair of cresteds, red eyes, or whites...but that's it. A pair of one. Never mix species...
And everything you have listed has different heat/humidity requirements.

thats what i figured. I just was in a hurry. I just built it cause i thought it would look nice. I want more of an arboreal animal. So Maybe a pair of Tokays? Would it work with a male and female tokay?

I have been reading about Tokays lately, and while I am sure one could live in there, the males can reach over 12 inches. I wouldn't personally want to squish them that much. Maybe they could live in there for awhile then move into a larger home? then again this is MHO and I would personally provide more room for two full grown tokay geckos.

Try to stick to one species per enclosure. Each has their different requirements, even if from the same country of origin. Also each herp has their own specific bacteria(s) within their bodies, and these actually can help the animal... but transfer that to another species with no defense against that bacteria... Hello death.
The cage is going to be rather small... I'd suggest purchasing one of the species Youkai up there ^ posted. Do a bit of reading as well please, it'll aid the animal(s) in the long run.

I wouldn't put a pair of Tokays in anything less then 50gallons, personally.
Try cresteds...you can't go wrong with them!

I was thinking about crested geckos but I can't find any down here... Also i went to some pet stores around here looking for some geckos and in one i saw ants in their terrarium. I mentioned it to the guy and he said it's no problem at all. They're little like orange ants.. not red ants or black ants.. they look like sugar ants. These have to be bad for the reptiles right?

I'm almost 100% certain there are crested gecko breeders in your area. Check some more online classifieds, and local herp societies. Also, shipping is easily accomplished as well. If you find a reputable breeder, they don't have to be in your area to get the animals...

If you decide on Tokay Geckos. Do your research. They are real nasty and have a powerful bite, and will hold on. I read a caresheet that refered to them as 'The Pitbull of the Gecko world'

Why not try mourning geckos? These guys would do very well in the type of enclosure you are putting together, they are very hardy and easy to look after. I won't bore everyone with details, but i'm sure you can find some good info and a breeder on the web. If you want more info just pm me.

maybe even some leopard geckos...a pair...they are really very colorful and active geckos. if you are looking for something that will liven up your vivarium. they also don't get very big and are fairly easy to maintain. with the proper heating and all of course. i agree with all above...do not mix species, in the long run, it'll hurt you, and the reptiles the most. another thought is a group of anoles. they only get about 8" and they are very good in comunities. just be careful seeing as how they can climb the walls. LOL! have a lid handy. anoles are actually really cute and active. and i'm sure you could find some nice ones at a local pet store or breeder. hope this helps!
