help....taming milksnake

I have had my pueblan for about a year and she is still crAzy. I only handle her inside the tank because she is super fast and if I grip her in any way she whips around and bites. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

TMost snakes come out ov this behaviour in a year my brb took a long time to tame but most will tame handle ur snake confidently and if it bites u do not jerk ur hand back as u could damage the teeth and in turn could cause mouth rot alltho that is worst case mouth trauma that would lead to this. Just handle as often as possible an u wilk be ok if not u may need to acsept that u have a nippy snake that wont tame lol very unlikley tho all the best

Don't handle her so much. Let her bite. If you put her down every time she bites, she's going to associate biting you as a way to get you to stop handling her. At her age a pueblans bite should cause little to no damage.

some snakes tame down, some do not.
I agree that some settle down as they age, but i've always heard that pueblans are one of the more nervous milk snakes anyways.

one option is to continue working with her (i would suggest not every day, maybe 2-3 times/week, or every other day) and note any improvement. OR, you could let her be the display snake she wants to be (no/rare handling) and get another, older, handleable snake.

I will continue working with her, her bite doesnt hurt just startles me. Hopefully she will calm down some before she gets too much bigger so my kiddos can atleast touch her because she is very pretty. I had an albino nelsons before the pueblan and she was calm but I figured out they are escape artists the hard way

I also have a normal ball whom I rescued from a bad situation he is in a 150 gallon mansion.

You have to take her out of the tank, then usually the tank defense goes away

I think I'm making progress. She didn't bite lastnight and would calm down for a min and she didn't musk buuut. She did this weird jerking thing. It's feeding day tomorrow so I'll mess with her in the tub tonight feed her tomorrow and let her be for a few days. Thanks for all the advise I appreciate it
