Parasite treatment, round 2...
I can't believe two snakes can cause so much headache. Just got the results back form the fecal and they have tapeworms AND pinworms. So either my treatment of Fenbendazole was unsuccessful, and the test was wrong, or the contracted it again. Tomorrow I go pick up the Praziquantel to start with the Fenbendazole AGAIN. Pretty upset the vet didn't tell me before that the sample had to be extremely fresh, and readily accepted it from me dry... False negative. Awesome.
I really can't see them contracting this again. Pretty pissed off they've been living with them, and a lot of them (high parasite load) this long with me thinking they are great. Part of me wants to off them and start with a more desirable species this time, but i've already dumped hundreds and hundreds into them what's a little more.... Plus I guess somehow my soulless self has grown attached to them after a couple years...
Glad I never bred my burm with that vets burm, it probably had parasites or something.... A hole....

How do you think they contracted them? Are they wild caught?

Re: Parasite treatment, round 2...
Yes. I knew they had them before, and spent a few hundred on vet visits and treatment. Vet had me bring in old dry samples, and told me they were free of parasites and gave them a clean bill of health. Then about two weeks ago I noticed blood in their feces. And here I am, again. Time for them to go the way of ol' Yeller. Just kidding...maybe...

This is why I hate when the only advice people give on here is to "take him to a vet" For what? What is he going to do exactly? After a handful of vets that do nothing but hemorrhage your money, you start to not give a damn about a vet. I'm sorry but i'm not traveling across the country for a snake. It's hard enough to find an exotic vet, let alone one that will take hots, let alone be good.
Most vets seem to have the same answer to diagnose anything besides fecal borne parasites and RI they need to do a necropsy for thousands after it's dead.
I'm thinking of not doing anything vet related any more. From what I understand fecal tests for parasites are not even hard to do yourself. RI's are pretty obvious as well. Maybe I can't do a culture for bacteria but i've yet to have a vet that will either. Baytril, always, that's it.

Re: Parasite treatment, round 2...
Holy hell they gave me dry Fenbendazole powder at 222mg/g. A whole new concentration I have to decipher and reconstitute in a vial draw up to inject. I HATE DRUG CALCULATIONS AHHHHH NOT AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
