Pinkies or fuzzies?
Hello everybody, I hope you are all well. Just wanted a little advice on feeding my beautiful MBK 'Sasha Fierce'. She 11 weeks old, about 12 in long and about a pencil in diameter. She's been eating (2) f/t pinkies every 5 days with no problems. my dilemma is I've got one pinkie left and about (10) fuzzies in the freezer. Even though she's kinda small, the pinkies don't leave her with much of a bulge at all. Should I go ahead and try her on the fuzzies or just go to the pet store and buy another (6) pack of pinkies ($14)? I think she could handle a fuzzy but don't want her to regurge. Also when I got her she was going into shed and it seemed to go ok except there's a small dry patch that's still on the top of her head. It's not flaky or anything, just looks like dry skin. Should I just wait to see how her next shed goes, bump up the humidity in her tank when she goes blue, or add a moist hide? Any thoughts? Thanks as always.

If the pinkies don't leave a bulge and you have to give her two of them, why are you still using them? Just give her the fuzzies she won't die I promise

LOL. I didn't think the fuzzies would kill her. I was just trying to avoid the dreaded regurge. We'll know tomorrow, that's feeding day. I'll keep you posted.

Do the fuzzy. A regurge is not because of prey size.

Now I'm a little confused. Everything I've read had me under the impression that regurges are caused by either the temps being too low/high, stress, or feeding too large of a prey item. I think she'll be ok but do want to have my facts straight since I'm relatively new to the hobby. Thanks again.

If a prey item is too big the snake just won't eat it or will spit it out. A larger prey item will take longer to digest so your temps need to be spot on.
The two main causes of regurge are temps and stress.

This is solid advice it is not a regurge unless it eats the pray, if it swallows it then regurge,s there is a problem with the above.

That is what people tell others to justify their snake's regurgitation. Snakes can handle extremely large meals.

I'll work on a pic. I guess it is worth more than words. She's still really shy and quite flighty. Getting her to sit still is a bit of a challenge. I've only had her for 2 weeks but she usually calms down after 5-10 minutes of handling. I'll also have to figure out how to post pics on here so y'all can meet my crew of 2.

What they mean by regurge caused by "too large a prey item" really means that their temps were not high enough. With insufficient heat, a snake may have no problem digesting a tiny meal, whereas a meal of suitable size would pose a problem. Granted, the larger meal would be regurged in this scenario,and the smaller one would be digested, the the regurge would be due to improper husbandry (temps) and not the size of the prey.
Aslo: Fuzzies are better for your snake than pinkies. Pinkies do not have much nutritional value compared to rodents with more developed bone structure.
