I ordered my Costa Rican Boa!

I Just ordered a baby male CRB. I was gonna put him in a fifteen gallon glass cage to start. How should I have it set up to make it look natural? What should the hot and cool side be? Humidity levels? It won't be here for another week so I have time to set up.

I was thinking of using this as my heat lamp, what do you all think?

What is a reliable thermometer? Hydrometer?

What size heat bulb should I use for that size tank?

Cancel the order. Ask again, set it up properly and make sure it keeps proper temps. Then reorder.

EDIT: I'm just going to answer for the sake of your snake. I am not an expert on costa rican boas but I'll answer some of your other questions. I wouldn't use that heat lamp. Not only do heat lamps dry out the cage, but that specific one has an open cage around it, which will let moisture out of the air even quicker.

For hygrometers/thermometers a lot of people use accurite which is both built into one. you can get one at walmart or amazon.com. I use fluker's/zoomed digital thermometers too and they seem to be accurate. I haven't had a problem so far.

For the size of heat bulb it depends. For a 15 gallon tank whenever I did use a heat lamp The lowest I used was 25 watt and highest I used was 60 watt. Just get a 40 watt bulb and hook it up to a thermostat.

Do you not know about thermostats?

Personally when housing snakes in glass tanks I would go with belly heat(under tank heater) unless they are arboreal/semi-arboreal.

I've had three snakes. My current set up is a little different than how I had my pythons set up. Before my corn it's been about two years since I had my last snake.

I'm basically asking what is a good heat lamp so I don't start a fire, bulb, and accurate thermometer/hydrometer for a 15 gallon tank, and how to make the tank look like a costa rican environment...

My only two questions regarding care were specific temp and humidity level...

No, in regards to care you also asked about the hydrometer, thermometer and heat lamps which I answered.

Just buy any heat lamp with a ceramic socket. Any. And make sure it can handle the wattage of bulb you plan on using for it.

To make it look like a costa rican environment you can google "costa rican rainforest"

Put you fish tank in storage.

Use a tub. Ceramic heat emitters are what I use plus a heat mat in the winter time. Use a thermostat.

Hot end= 87-92

Cool= 77-80

Humidity should hover around 60-70% Bump that up when snake is in shed.
