First Tag!!

not me.... my boyfriend

He was holding onto my 2 3/4 foot female king while i was cleaning out her tub. I wasnt paying much attention, but i saw him jerk his hand back and utter some colorful expletives lol.

This snake has a reputation for being a food monster, but she was just fed 3 days ago, and i think if it was a feeding response she would have been acting more alert, more 'predatory', and would have constricted more with her body, and tried to hold on during the bite.
He says he was going to support her front, about 5 inches back from the head, and she whipped around and bit him between the thumb and pointer... It wasnt very gorey, not worth taking pictures of the weird part, was after the fact, she was completely fine again. Not 'searching' like for food, no 's' shaped defensive posture, completely normal. However, when i put her back in the tub and was putting the lid back on, she was pretty keen on my fingers, as normal

any thoughts? I think it was just a defensive, startled reaction...

Re: First Tag!!

He probably pinched her somewhere or put pressure by accident and she didnt like being restrained, or startled. It happens

ah, so my snakes and I like him for the same reason then!!
:P I jest.... he may have smelled a bit like my male king as we cleaned his cage earlier.
Still thinking she was just startled, but was interested to hear if anyone had stories of otherwise very tame, easy going snakes, having certain triggers?
