New member, also please help identify snake
Hi my name is Brad. I'm a 22 year old residing in North Carolina, USA. Today I found a snake and I would like some help identifying it if you dont mind.
Found on a rock at the river behind my house. Pretty sure it's a viper family snake.

Nerodia Sipedon - North American water snake, harmless, closely related to the garter snake. I keep one as a pet.
No venom here.

Re: New member, also please help identify snake
While posting this my friend informed me it was some kind of water snake but I wasn't sure. Sure was aggressive and as you can see in the picture seems to have some kind of wound.

Yup...What infernalis said. You actually have a few different kind of water snakes in you state you may be interested in reading about. (See attached)
Although not a hot snake....many bigger water snakes can still bite like hell. (Oh to be 13 again) So probably best you didn't touch him.
(Nice pic & welcome)
