A look at how much i've grown since last year (clay stuff)

So I don't like making clay bps. Theres just something about when I try to make them they just look wrong, like when you spell a word right but it doesn't look like the word.

Anyway September last year I made a pastel bp, I only have a work in progress picture but if I recall it didn't get much better (I really don't think I fixed that terrible head, someone bought him anyway) This is that pastel :

Yeah...not so great. So last night I was struck with the idea of trying a bp just to see what I could do. I remembered making a pastel (I honestly didn't remember it as being that bad) so I gave it a shot and this is what I ended up with

I'm really happy with my improvement and i'm not as scared of making bps as I was. I know there are a few things I have to change when I make another, but for my second ever BP and for 9 months, i'm happy with my progress.

Thanks for looking!

Definitely ab improvement on the first pic.

For future reference you may want to make the snake's body more rounded, you gave it the "boa" look but for a bp it needs to be more rounded.

Perhaps he can repaint it to look like a BCC or BCI.

Personally I think they're awesome! I have no artistic ability period when it comes to drawing, painting, or making stuff like that, so I really admire those who can do it.

I like the second one better, but both are cool. First one has a cartoonish appeal to it which is nice. Though admittedly it doesn't look like a BP. Nice work.

Re: A look at how much i've grown since last year (clay stuff)

Thank you everyone for the compliments.

Amadeus I can see how from that picture it would look 'square' or boa like but I assure you it is rounded. I will try and take a more level picture so you can see that it isn't boxy shaped. A lot of what you are seeing that makes it seem boxy is reflections, especially in the lower curve.

Bcr229 I don't paint anything, paint makes things look messy to me, though there are lots of polymer clay people who do it. I find by using only clay you get brighter colors and a more sharp look, plus clay is much easier to shape.

Now that you mentioned it, I can see that the square look is mostly a reflection on whatever it's sitting on.

Yeah I took the photos with it sitting on a mirror, i guess it wasn't really the best choice I do assure you though its short fat and very round haha, body shape is one of the things i'm really trying to get right and Bps have to be the easiest lol!

Also Aaron you can eat it if you want I guess....it'll cost you and it prob wont taste very good :S
