UV LED's
Can anyone recomend a UV LED GU10 manufacturer that makes bulbs which actually produce UV light? I bought one from ebay, coz it was cheap, but it may not actually produce UV light at all, I'll hopefully find out when I get it and it tells me the wavelengths available, but if anyone has a suggestion for a good company to go for, much obiliged!
The lamp will go alongside the 2 30W halogens I currently use for a basking spot for my Sav, 3 was way too hot, but two is perfect, and usin the third unused holder for UV seems like a good idea!
I dont want to add a full UV tube, I have a couple, but they run too hot for me to have a decent basking area tempreture and keep a nice temp gradient in the tank
ps. I did do a search for UV LEDS on the forum, but it gave me a list of irrelevant threads, so apologise if this has already been covered.

I may be wrong but I don't think there are any LEDs that produce UVB available on the market.

Ditto. I've been out of the retail side of things for a few years, but I'm not aware of any UV LEDs either.

I've used UV ''led'' strips to cure silicon before now, so i'm sure they must exist, last couple of years have been allot of development in the technology - perhaps the strips I used may have been UV laser diodes tho, hmmm

Again, I don't think it's the problem of UV, but rather specifically UVB. There are plenty that emit UVA wavelengths, and I think some produce UVC, but I'm not aware that any produce UVB with any usefulness yet. Could be wrong of course as there are new developments all the time. I know there was talk about a very expensive system (upwards of thousands of dollars) that was supposed to have this capability, but haven't seen anything on the market yet.

yeah I cant find anything which covers the UVB wavelengths, will wait and see what the info on the bulb is, i suspect its at least UVA which is a useful start, but hopefully no UVC - cant imagine that it wuld, but some not all companies can be trusted!

The current LED lamps manufactured are "near UV" (Including the "blue ray laser") and produce monochromatic 375-400 nanometer wavelengths.
Mercury vapour lamps produce a broader spectrum UV, so I have to vote in the direction already stated, no real products on the market will meet the needs of reptile keeping just yet.

I'm with Wayne, I have my eye out but all I've ever found are uv grow lights for hyrdo-, aquaponics and fish tanks.

they supply uvb tubes and compact bulbs from 2.0,5.0,10.0 strengths
Arcadia also do all types of reptile lighting
i use the 2.0 uvb compact bulbs for my Diamond Pythons mate
