I love box turtles! I have 9 right now but I am in the process of getting more. They are my favorite reptile by far! Good for you, taking in rescues!

Well I don't like a lot of things that other people own but I understand why they keep them. For me there is no reptile better then a box turtle. I am not trying to be macho by keeping venomous or giant snakes. If you are going to keep something you should love doing it. I still have anoles because they were one of my first lizard and I still get a kick out of seeing them rip around. That is not even all my box turtles just my three toeds. There are four recoginized N.American species of box turtle comman in the pet trade. Two from Mex. And numerous Asain species. If you only had pairs of all of them you would still have over a hundred box turtles. See this is why I useually don't post what I own. For me 14+ box turtles that can be housed in the same space instead of one retic makes more sence to me but I would never ask anyone why own a retic? It is personal preference. I love turtles and plan on having at least five of every N American species of box turtle. And yes we do have a zoo but not everybody on here is a hobbist only, some people own reptile buisnesses as well. I am in no way angry or even annoyed at that statement, just trying to explain.-Tim
Not to mention the 40+ geckos that I breed too!-J.B.
