They say that the monitors are in the thousands, I still cant seem to find any tho.

Should have gone to specsavers.

Nobody who cares about them is going to sell you one until you can prove you have the right equipment, attitude, and dedication also love and ability to care for them. That's going to take time enough time to do proper research.

Limited numbers means a limited market and a limited amount of people that breeders will sell to... If you don't know where they are or personally know (in good terms) with breeders that have them, chances are you'll never own one. No matter your proposed claims of financial ability to purchase one.

I know this is way off topic but that comment would make you a perfect weather man! Only a weather man can be wrong more than right and still get a raise!

Dude, to be honest, I think most people are thinking that you are getting in over your head. Varanid people are very passionate about their reptiles and hate to see them get into the wrong hands.

There is a reason why certain varanids are hard to find. It is because they are hard to keep, not readily bred in captivity, and are not imported regularly. Lace monitors are all 3 of those. The harder they are to find the more expensive they will be. I would not sell a pair of normal lacies cheaper than $6,000 and they would not go to someone who does not have extensive experience with varanids.

That's right.

I know people who throw out eggs rather than accept money for babies because they would rather not see a single one of them languish or show up on youtube in bad shape.

I can predict that one day I too will probably not incubate 100% of my eggs..

IMO that is the responsible thing to do. I feel very bad for any reptile that ever comes into the hands of reptileseeker considering he has been told how poorly he takes care of his animals and how to better take care of them and does nothing. What does that say about his character?
