Re: I've waited years for this
Well thankfully it worked out well for you. As I have heard many people say it's not if but when as far as getting bitten is concerned. Sorry you had to learn that way but it's a lesson you won't forget anytime soon.
I don't keep hots, although have handled many in my time, but they are fascinating creatures in fact my favorite snakes. I guess it is the fact they hold the power of life and death over you.

I think about that every time I get into my car. I'm more concerned about being killed in my car than I am of a snake bite. At least I have a pretty good idea what the snake wants to do, I have no ideas what the other drivers are going to do.

Jerry, you should try driving in the Philadelphia area.....people forget the very basic aspects of driving safety every time it rains, or snows, or the sun is rising and glaring off the road, or it's rush hour.....or just all the time. Lol

Re: I've waited years for this
Better yet, trying riding a motorcycle anywhere. You really discover how many idiots are on the road. You take extra precautions and try to second guess what each one is going to do and give yourself an escape route at the same time. Sometimes it feels like you're in a war zone lol

So TRUE. As an ex-biker I learned real fast that a biker never has the right a way. I rode for many years without an accident, but gave it up, because at my age it takes a long time for my old bones to heal. lol

Re: I've waited years for this
I knew there was another reason I like you! You're a biker as well heehee. There is no such thing as an ex biker; just a retired one. I think I'm a magnet for idiot cagers. They were always riding my bumper, pulling out in front of me, etc.
Like you, I think I'd rather take my chances with my animals (although I don't keep venomous). I'm less likely to get tagged by them than getting tagged on the road.
Now that I think about it, keeping venomous may even be safer than riding a street bike.
I still want to be mentored to handle hots. I don't know if I want to keep them, but I'd love the chance to work with them. Hopefully one day I'll get chance to

You are right, I'm a retired biker. I still steal my son's bike sometimes to go for a little ride.

Re: I've waited years for this
I know what you mean about the other drivers. It seems every other day in Phoenix there is an accident where someone hits a bike.

In southern california because it is so temperate here we hardly get rain so as soon as we get a few drops people forget how to drive. It also doesnt help that So Cal is such fast paced so everyone drives very fast. If you dont you are likely to get in an accident.
