Re: Hypo Hogg..culdnt resist
given him a name finally, Azacca Haitian name, didnt find any Guyanese names i liked, so Haitian will do!
after nearly 2 weeks of hissing and striking at the slightest movement/sound thru the plastic, i've decided that he doesnt like tubs at all, moved him into an old wooden enclosure early this morning, with coco husk and cork tubes instead of paper towel, seems much more relaxed now, been out exploring a few times without a single hiss or posture going to give him another 2 weeks and see if he's ready for some interaction and pics

Just get in there! I had the same problem with my male cay caulker. Came hissing in his unopened shipping box! I swear he was like the devil for the first few weeks biting everything that moved. I only let him settle enough to eat and then began handling him right away. Now he doesn't hiss or strike at all.

I gave him a month to settle in without handling, he's not calmed down even a little bit in the last 2 weeks with handling, its amusing tho, a baby snake trying to convince me he's a big scarey snake early days anyway

he does have some awsome colors, and constantly changing every time i see him, hoping to catch him for pics in orange mode, with less speckles, and yellow mode with lots of speckles too soon

Yes but the scary thing is imagining him acting like that when he's full grown. Not going to lie I am a bit worried about my hatchling jcp carrying this behavior into adultgood.

Re: Hypo Hogg..culdnt resist
Very nice pick up mate! Absolutely stunning little hog...
The first hoggs in the hobby were apparently heavily speckled, we've selectively bred them to be cleaner and brighter to the point they no longer look like the wild hoggs.
