You are right that 3 point perches are good for them but they are fine if they go to the ground. I have a bunch that sit on the ground during the day and perch at night no matter what the set up is.

I didn't even realize I was commenting on the husbandry on someone who is very knowledgeable with amazons (no sarcasm). Very nice setup though I never thought about using netting before.

Having multiple branches around each other also works without the X shape but you need enough that like I said he can wrap around touching 3 points of his body.

You said that with a "proper" setup, he would "never" see the snake on the ground. So, yeah, it was. In fact, the entire basis of the post was wrong.

The entire basis of my post was focused around setting up a proper perching which is normally with amazons the X shape so that they can rest 3 points of their body. From reading online and talking to a few breeders when I had my ATB I was told they should never be on the ground. I also didn't realize I was telling this to Jason Hood who obviously knows this species like the back of his hand.

Re: Some kids just go their way
I was wondering if it was a matter of insufficient cover? Perhaps with a bower of leaves hanging down it would feel more secure/protected and therefore hang out on the branches during the day.
Beautiful snake.

I do need to restock on my fake plants. I only wash them a few times before I get fed up and toss them. Very good point!

Thanks. Btw -- you likely already know this but in case you don't -- for cheap fake plants you might try thrift stores like the Salvation Army and Goodwill. I always see a lot of them whenever I pop into one (as I hunt for cheap containers to renovate for arthropod habitats).
