Re: Mites!?!?!?
Bleach will NOT kill mites or their eggs.
It is completely USELESS in this case and the post referencing it should be disregarded.
It is bad advice.
Stick with PAM.

Re: Mites!?!?!?
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough, I'll try to explain this so you understand better:
Bleach WILL NOT kill mites or their eggs.
Clear enough?

Re: Mites!?!?!?
Interesting because mites if not killed by the bleach would surely drown if submerged for any length of time.

Re: Mites!?!?!?
Zach, you are sadly misinformed. I'm not going to ask where you got this misinformation because quite frankly I don't care.
What I do care about is you passing on this misinformation to members on this forum. You are doing the members here a great disservice by doing so.
I'm not getting into a peeing match with you, nor will I explain this any further. Know that you are wrong.

Re: Mites!?!?!?
Why can't you explain it to me with your super genius intellect? How can an arachnid live with no oxygen? How can a poison like bleach not kill them?

Re: Mites!?!?!?
Hey guys, I've had an epiphany!:
Instead of using Nix or PAM, lets just drown mites in apple juice, or motor oil, coconut milk, or....bleach.
...Sounds dumb when you read it Zach, non?
Zach, I can't be bothered. If you don't believe me, good luck with your "mite-erradicating bleach treatment"..
I've been debating topics on reptile forums with people like you for too long to continue doing it when I have right on my side.
Let us all know how it works out for you.
BTW, there's oxygen in water (it the "O" part in H2O). There goes my super genius intellect again...

Re: Mites!?!?!?
I would never put cage furnishings in motor oil or apple juice or coconut milk. My first snake had mites and do you know how I treated the cage furnishings? I put them in a bleach water solution that killed all the mites on them. After 2 years my snake is mite free and so are all the furnishings. Sounds dumb huh?

Mites breath through exoskeleton meaning they can't get oxygen from the water. Learn some manners.

Re: Mites!?!?!?
Snakeman is not the OP, just someone passing along junk info; probably something he read on Wikipedia...
