Re: Night lights?

Id stick with the bulbs if your temps drop at night.. I had the same problem using a uth only and my brb got lethargic from it.. However other people use them well.. It all depends on individual circumstances xx

Re: Night lights?

Petsmart probably has them and they are kinda pricey but che last a very long time like five yrs so its worth it in the long run.

Re: Night lights?

If you use CHE then you MUST have a thermostat, i have a laser thermometer and one day just for fun when setting up a viv i ran the che for five minutes with out the thermostat and checked the bulb temp, it was over 400f!!! This is why CHE'sMUST be GUARDED and THERMOSTATTED at all times.

The big advantage of them once they are set up and thermostatted is that you can run them 24/7, all seven of my snakes have them on constantly.

i would use non light emmiting ceramic bulbs 24/7 and use the light coming in your room window as its natural light cycle

imo a snake needs darkness

Re: Night lights?

So I went to local petsmart to ask them about the lights .. The lady was like.. We use the red infarared light.. We use re infarared light.. That's what we use.. That's what our animals have on them . And I was like .. I don't care what u use in your store u didn't answer my question.. So I left.. And she was the pet care manager.. Omg

Re: Night lights?

Personally, I use natural light for my snakes. Both tanks are on my dresser, and they face the window so they get some really good natural light. In the evening I have a lamp next to the dresser with a reading lamp on it. I usually point it towards the tanks from the side. Other then that, they have their heart pads. And they seem to do fine.
