Thermometers, Thermostats, and Timers

I use the Zoo Med 500R thermostat with probe It's not great (just has a temperature dial, not temperature settings, you have to dial it in by turning it on, waiting for it to cycle off, then check your temps. If too high, turn it down, if too low, turn it up, etc) but it was cheap , 33 bucks.
that you much good sir... i will be deff getting those items with in the next day or so!!

as an update on my BRB
Temps-hot gets up to 88ish
low(with no UTH) gets down to 69

humidity stays high through out the day and drops down at night.

temperament- nipped at my 2 times since i got her dont blame her after the 3 hr car ride home and all the moving her around to fix cage lol

happiness- %100 happy!!

Re: Guess what i got?

BRBs happen to dig under their substrate a lot. at least mine does. It is not unusual for my brb to be out of the hide under my substrate with nothing but it's head out.

Re: Guess what i got?

I was referring to digging with claws, like a monitor or tegu, which could peel up the tape or cut through the insulation on the cable. Snakes don't so much dig as... push their way under substrate.

Re: Guess what i got?

i use a 10 gal. myself. just keep a close eye on humidity. i use fir bark substrate soaked in water with a large clump of saturated moss (anytype) in the middle of the floor. i use that and a good size water bowl and hot hide, with a 60 watt ceramic heater and undertank heater. i keep 3/4 of the lid covered in glass and keep 82-88% constant humidity. and my little dude has more space when he decides to move around at night. plus i just never have liked using plastic...

i hate plastic tubs.... i'm still trying to decide what i want to use.... so far i think i have everything under control. in the hot hide its 82 been that way all day with the occasional peak to 83ish... shes been hanging up at the top of the tub any way. she also likes playing in her lil bushes i put in there.

yea, thats what i hear... i dont want her under the substrate though cuz my dumb UTH. so i made a hide that goes on top of the UTH and it gets only 83-84 in the hide. i will be getting that heat rope stuff though in a week or so.

Re: Guess what i got?

I said I wouldn't use heat cable with anything that digs.

Kmef07 pointed out that brbs burrow in their substrate a lot.

I clarified that I meant I wouldn't use it with something that digs with claws, like a monitor, or a tegu. Something that could rip the cable up, or damage it.
