LOL, agreed....Another thing people... It's TV...Don't believe everything you see, its hollywood...
I've seen people look worse than that just after "SEEING" a spider
I'm sure they sexed up the whole thing just for the WOW factor.
I actually think they should have swallowed them. It would have been slightly more interesting, but not much

TOO FUNNY!!!
I was watching it & then they had those 2 idiots getting ready & went to commericial. Too bad I switched channels DOH! I totally would have enjoyed watching buddy suffer, as neither he or his buddy seemed too worried about causing suffering to the scorps. Too bad Ripley's have actually lowered themselves to "Fear Factor's" level. Are their reatings really that bad that they need to do so? SAD really, Mark
P.S. did they show the Albino Alligator in that show & if so is the footage worth watching the show for?

Entirely correct.

Hey Kim,
The Arizona bark scorpion (C. exilicauda) can and has caused human fatalities.........
Usually only in very young, old or people with certain health conditions.......... Also an alergic reaction can kill.........
It is alot more potent than a bee sting....... Whoever said that, really does not know how hot they are.......
They were once considered to be the most toxic scorpion in the US........ But futher studies have shown that C. vittatus ( texas bark scorpion) is much more toxic.......
Put it this way, if they make an antivenin for it, it can be considered a medically significant sting.........
I have been stung well into the triple digets by both species and I can tell you first hand that C. vittatus is way worse but both are bad........ Scorpion venom for the most part does not cause any real swelling........
Maybe alittle at the immediate sting site but usually not much further than that........ Scorpion venom acts on the pain receptors........ Scorpion venom is not used to break down it food.........
The venoms soul perpose is to kill it prey and to ward off attackers........ Maybe tomorrow I will post an LD50 on these two species......
Also the scorps were really not in danger as long as the guy did not bite down on them or swallow them......... I am sure the scorps were actually quite comfortable being in a dark place......LOL
Gregg

Hey thanks for responding Gregg I am very interested in this topic, I have little experience with it though. How many times have you been stung??What is it that you do that puts you in that position?
Thanks again
Kim

I put them in my mouth for T.V........LOL...... No I am just joking.......I breed them...... Putting them in containers to shipped out..... Tank maintainance........ I can have anywhere from 500 to 2000 scorpions at a time........ When you deal with that many, stings are unavoidable........ I dont have an exact number of times I have been stung but I lost count somewhere in the 200s....... But that is over a 10 year period........

hmmm.....I think handling a scorp would cause it stress...and popping it in your mouth with 30 other scorps. would cause stress as well..if not more. I'm glad the guy got stung AND had a reaction...maybe it'll stop other fools from doing such things...somehow I doubt it though......

I was in no way implying it was right to put them in your mouth.....LOL....... I was just saying that the conditions in side the mouth are not much different than that of what they would hide out in, in the wild....... I was half joking in that post.....LOL

I saw that Ripleys too. I was laughing my head off at how stupid those two guys were. That one guy looked like he was gonna die at one point. Never seen a face go so red before. But what do you expect when your stupid enough to do that. Its amazing what ppl will do for fame.
Cheers, Ryan
