"The Shining", hands down for me....
I really don't scare easily, but I can still completely freak myself out just by thinking of those damn twin girls.....
Kubrick's direction and musical score don't help either.

"Cube" or "Hypercube" was mentioned. I saw it recently and it did infact put a different spin on what we perceive as reality and time-space relations. My favourite horror movie of all time has got to be The Exorcist. I also like Event Horizon.
Currently, my university class in Cinema and Modernity is studying the horror genre. The reasons that people watch horror movies is what interests me. We have discussed in class how the "monsters" in horror movies are physical manifestations of fears or insecurities that we are otherwise unable to address. By displacing this fear onto a "monster", it therefore becomes defeatable. However, since the nature of our fears that we internalize never really cease to exist, the "monsters" continually pop up or rise again to haunt us. The analysis becomes much more detailed, but this is the basic idea.

Man, i've heard so much about "Wrong turn" and never really saw it. I gotta...
There's this other movie "Cabin fever" that i heard about. Is it any good?
I'm surprised nobody picked the classic "Company of wolves".
Hey, Reddragon, you're really into the SCARY ones. Gee, 13 ghosts, Pet sematary (spelled this way) and Exorcist were freaky.
But Rob Zombie has got to be the man with me most twisted mind on the planet."She's got a corpse under her bed...She's had her fun but now he's dead!" Is this stuff great or what?

I love ALL horror movies, My dad is a HUGE Stephen King fan and he turned me into one also. I remember sitting there as a little girl watching firestarter and IT and anything else scary.
All the classics of course, but i will list a few of my personal favorites.
Silence of the Lamb, I think this is my favorite cause i was home alone and it was pitch dark through the house (the only way to watch scary movies) and it scared the poo out of me, plus their was a guy staring in at me from my window and my brother and his friend were on the roof (don't ask, that was were they hung out at times, and i didnt' know they were there) and they jumped off the roof to tackle him. Plus i had to watch it a few times to understand everything. Anthony hopkins Does such a great job!!!
Dee Sniders Strangeland, That movie was just great, completly different from the normal, hehe Capt. Howdy.
IT- They all float down here... Need i say more.
Cujo- GREAT, GREAT movie!!!! makes you think twice about a St. Benard. LOL
I could go on forever, I've pretty much seen them all and enjoy all of them, Including all the movies that other people have listed already. I love watching the exorcist for a great laugh, don't know why but scary movies make me laugh my butt off.
The remake of Dawn of the Dead comes out soon, My bf got passes to check out a special screening of it, so we are going on March 16th to see it, can't wait.

i thought cabin fever sucked.
28 days later i liked,but it wasnt really that scary
When i was a kid i saw the first half of IT on tv and that was all -i was freaked out for weeks.
I thought The Ring was scary-hair on my neck was standing up for most of the movie.
havent seen House of a thousand corpses yet,but ill get around to it - ive heard nothing but good reviews from people.

28 days later sucked :P But I do want to see cabin fever, there is a new one out called Taking lives i think I wanna see. There sure are alot of good flicks listed here though  sorry guys the ring sucked too :P One kick and that little girl would have fallen How can anyone be scared of a hald rotten little girl lol.
I Can never watch a horror movie the same again ever since I watched scary movie 2 lol it has just ruined the whole horror thing for me

Pirranha, i warn you that House of 1000 corpses is not your traditional kind of movie, most people come out of it saying " What the hell was that all about? Weird movie..."
You have to be tuned into that whole no-sense type of film to enjoy it. Then again, It's a Rob Zombie product so...
