This is one of my females A. braunshauseni... this species can reach a spectacular 20cm legspan... I guess that is why they call it the Giant Pinktoe...

The picture I posted on this thread is actually my female and YOUR male. My female shed a couple weeks ago so next time (2-3 weeks) I go go to Ottawa I'll bring him over to ya. Thanks again for the 50/50.

Is the temperment in all the Avics about the same? I didn't realize there was so much variation with this one particular sub species, I want them all! (Not if Invictus could help it though )

Hi Red Dragon,

Some Avicularia spp. have very different behaviors...

Take for exemple A. laeta (from Porto Rico), it is a quite agressive animal. Actually, a lot of them I do not fully trust for handling like A. urticans and A. huriana to name a few.

For the moment, all the picture I have shared belong to different species of the genus Avicularia, not sub-species... I say for the moment because some taxonomists argue that some of those species are only regional variants of A. avicularia (like A. bicegoi and A. braunshauseni for exemple). So in the future, we may see some species become synonymised...
