I am also in a wheelchair, although just on my bad days, due to a severe autoimmune disease. My green iguanas have been one of my great joys as they enjoy climbing my chair to come and get attention. I love my snakes too but igs that are well socialized are actually companions rather than just part of a collection. Gizmo loves to drape herself across the handles and snuggle against my shoulders.

Just watch out for those tails under your wheels!

so.. I've decided its gonna be an iguana... that what made me decide is that my neighbours son in law had an iguana .. and they just wanted to "throw" it away :O:O:O I couldnt believe it.. I heard it this morning when I was outside with one of my snakes.. and my neighbour made a comment about reptiles and told me that story.. ... and so it came that I asked her for her son in laws phone number...

so I rang and we talked and he said.. sure come and get the nasty animal .. and thats what I did
I went and got that poor animal... its a little beauty and sooo sweet.. well... it still needs taming...

went to a vet with Lizzy and they there liz went trough some test and some pics.. and nothing was wrong with Liz

very stressed though.. hands are an absolut NONO... but I'll work on that.. plenty of time.. right now she is basking in her new enclosure had some food... and looks quit happy...

btw.. is a 500 gal enclosure big enough for Liz 2 grow up in... The svl lenght is 8 inch ..next spring my dad will start on the big enclosure.. but I think for that time.. its big enough

Good call on getting a rescue and not buying a young one...there are so many in need of homes. 500 gal sounds huge, but what part of it is 8 inches? I don't get it.

Congrats to you and Lizzy! Glad to hear that you're excited about her.

from snout to vent... ( place where the tail begains ).. according to that guy Liz was around 1 years of age....

well.. 500 sounds.... huge but for how long :P its still a very small iguana .. but oh well... Liz seems to be feeling at home.. Liz has eaten and been exploring the enclosure... some part of it is still unavailable to liz, because other wise it would just be way 2 large at the moment

cute! she looks like a sweetie! I don't really know much about iguana enclosures, but what is the length/width/height of the 500? I can't even really fathom that.

An ideal cage for an adult iguana is at least 2 meters tall, 2 meters wide and 1.75 meters deep. Bigger is obviously better and they do best with a dedicated room rather than a cage. Height for climbing is essential!

What a cutie. And a 500 gal that I seen was big enough to put a full grown man in, WITH scuba gear (or was that a 750 gal tank?) with water in there.....so if it is as big as I THINK, then it will probably be good for a while. Don't know much about iguanas though........I'm glad little lizzy is in a good home!

its 70 cm deep, 180 long and 1.50 high

but when grown up or .. larger and ... a bit more.. tame .. there is an entire room available.. wich is 4 by 3 by 2.. or something like that.. We've got space enough now...

I am really happy with Liz... but got to go now... need to buy food and seeds to plant my own little veggie garden
