I found the solution By pressing the tab View new posts if we have the choice to select viewing those posts by forums, then we couldn't mess with jokes and everything else unrelated. These are useful too but not for anyone and all the time.

Well, I do agree a bit. I mean just overlook the joke threads, rights? But I also do see where Jeff is coming from, there are like 10 new threads here whenever I look and it is irritating to look over them. If I feel like reading a joke I will simply come into this forum, I'd rather not when I'm looking for herp-related stuff.

But jeff, I think you may have to tough if out!

Probably, but that's why I asked. I wasn't complaining and I wasn't asking to get rid of the forum (exact opposite, actually). But I couldn't see the harm in asking, so I did.

my problem besides all the room these threads have on the homepage, is misleading subject headers, it's almost as bad in the general forum which I think should be for herp related questions that don't fit in other forums. I agree, I come here to discuss those animals that wind up in this type of specialized forum. If I wanted jokes, bands, non-herp news articles, weightlifters, or any other topic I'm sure I can find those forums outside of a herp forum. Sure the occassional o/t post is no big deal, but for some members it seems the majority of their posts are off topic, some is ok, but when you log on and most of the home page thread shortcuts are non-herp related it begins to reflect on the intent of the site. JMHO

Its not just people with sad lives....I am HUGE into humour but I hate liner jokes. I avoid them, I tell people I do not want to hear them and I never read them. Not to say I think this forum is bad, but like Jeff I would prefer to skip over them.

Jeff, why is it that no matter what I say you think it's personal? You have never even met me, yet you feel the need to get defensive whenever I don't agree with YOU. Nothing I said was even directed at you.

I surely didn't say you were complaining, nor did I say your question wasn't worth asking. I just think that since they already created this forum because of complaints (made by someone other than you) about jokes in the general forum, that it's asking a lot of them to change things yet again. Though I do like the idea of blocking "new posts" from any thread you don't want to partake in. I would hate to see the jokes disappear altogether, sometimes a chuckle is a good thing, but if some people keep making a big fuss over it they may just ban jokes.

Can you understand now that I wasn't disagreeing? I think "the benefit of the doubt" applies here.

If Jeff could disable the new threads on from this forum to appear on the homepage it would be great.
I think we can agree that this forum is o/t and if you want to discuss about herps the joke/comedy forum isn't the place for it. When you come to the ssnakess.com forums you don't have to read all the posts on all the forums, just take a look at what interests you. If you don't like jokes don't come here, go read posts on another forum that interests you, thats all.

I just found this new forum & I think it is a wonderful
idea. I don't understand why it is a problem when it
was created as a solution to the problem ; for all the
people who find jokes in their way.
When I come to sSnakeSs the General Discussion
page is the one that is my opener. Perhaps you who
don't want to see the jokes could set your favorite
forum as your opener. I was never fond of tripping
through all the new threads so I simply don't do it.
I check the main page of each section that I am
interested in after viewing the one set as my opener.
Give it a try......it may work for you , too.
