Re: Sanji

Thanks everyone!

He's got some rich colors, even if he's starting to brown out. He's still keeping a bit of that red, though. I thought he was going to end up orange there for a bit, too.

Re: Sanji

He is pretty, I love the smiley pattern on his head(reminds me of a cartoon cat smiling)
My Dante is about half that size so Im guessing around 5-6 mnths old(just a guess).
I cant wait till I can start handling him more. He is very friendly so far.I need to get some pics next week.

Re: Sanji

Feeding day is always interesting with this guy...This was the result of him missing his mouse and rapidly spinning through the air until he happened to hit the mouse. The poor thing has terrible aim. lol I think holding the mouse still throws him off, as he's hit it before if I was waving it around.

I'll give him another 4 days or so before I weigh him, as he only ate 2 days ago.

Re: Sanji

Always a good idea to space meals out!

Re: Sanji

Sanji weighing in at 86 grams now, and he's officially been bumped up from mouse fuzzies to hoppers, still being fed every 10 days. In about 2 months he'll be moved to a biweekly schedule. He's started exploring occasionally during the day again, and has started spreading out in the open again, too.

Once River outgrows her tub, I'll probably put him in there, and it's large enough to house him until he's 4'. These guys appear to grow pretty slowly, so he should be able to stay in that tub until he's 2 years old.

Re: Sanji

Good progress! At that size, however, you might be able to go *slightly* larger on the meals, or slightly more often. I feed my 85-grammers ever seven days. They channel it all into growth at that age.

I don't think I'd go any larger, the hoppers leave larger bulges on him than rat pups do on my retic, takes 2-3 days for the bulge to dissipate. With how large meals are, and how long it takes the bulge to go away, I think it would be best to stick to the 10 day schedule. They're larger than what I'm comfortable with, but most of my hoppers were on the larger end of things. They're averaging 9-11 grams each. I've already fed off the few 5 and 6 gram mice I had, which is what he's been getting for the past month or two.

Maybe once they become a more reasonable size I'll step back down to every 7 days, he's only been eating every 10 days for 3-4 months. The other 3-4 months I had him he ate every 7 days. I figured BRBs grow at about the same rate as BCI (2'-3' at a year, 3'-4' at 2, etc.) that a similar feeding schedule should be fine. It's really only a 3 day difference.

Re: Sanji

Thanks! I'll probably see a rather large growth spurt on him with the increased food size, too. So it might not take long for him to become large enough for them. I didn't realize so many of them would be on the bigger end of the size range given on the website. lol
