Which park did you find it in? Was it Pelham Bay, Van Cortland, Bronx Pk? I live in NY as well (born and raised in BX, live in Brooklyn presently). Very cool. As all have mentioned, these will eat mice and rats, and are harmless to you and your dog. I would love to happen upon one at a park sometime.

Nope, forest park in kew gardens queens. But not even the large park itself (that's a little removed from buildings) but in a little outlet called overlook park which is surrounded by buildings and the closest one is 10 feet away.
Yeah now that I know it's harmless I don't care it's really pretty. Gorgeous

The city has tons of rodents. Sewers, apartment buildings, parks..etc are filled with mice and rats.

Lol I think he was being sarcastic. Def tons of rodents. In subway at any station you will see a few.
