Glad you made the decision to get a carpet python. They aren't super hard to take care of; they are just a bit "high-strung" as babies and most people getting their first snake may not want to deal with that(or so they hear). I keep mostly carpet pythons and they are a blast. As yours ages, you may find him just hanging outside his hide most of the time as he gets comfortable in his home.
