What's the worst snake-related smell you've ever experienced?

Seconded. I used to catch the garter snakes where I grew up (we called them water snakes, because I grew up on a lake, and they were *always* in the water.) It's a familiar smell, so it's not soo bad. It doesn't make me want to upchuck- but it is a pretty strong.... deterrent from getting e'tten. Perhaps I'm weird, but I like the natural smell of my snake and his tank. You know, when he hasn't pooped in it. It's calm smelling- for lack of a better description.

Ah, what exactly is that natural snake smell like? And how much worse is it when the snake poops?

Also, what's the garter musk smell like? I still have never smelled it myself.
