What do you mean by bone dry? I know Canada get very cold, but during the winter here it gets below 20% humidity(inside the house) and around 65f.
I don't spray my cay caulker boas ever and they shed just fine.(Humidity is kept 60-70%). The babies are in 2ftx1.5ft enclosures and I provide them with a 5 inch diameter water bowl. It's the low ventilation that keeps the humidity in.
