Where are you located? That might be of help

The snake seems to be going into shed, I'd release it back into the wild.

Looks like a wolf snake.

okay maybe I am mistaken then. To me with the blurry picture it seemed as though the snake was done shedding it's head and had the skin peeled back.

Just did a google search of wolf snakes, and they seem to have that white ring around their neck.
