How much do i feed my sav?

I have an 7 month old sav. and i was wondering how much to feed him.
i normally feed him bout 3 mice a day and a few worms. but i was concerned that i was feeding him to much. his body is fatter then his head

the generally recommended diet for a Sav is 60% insects, 40% vertebrates (mice etc), mine eats ~30-40 adult crickets a day, and gets 2 mice every other day, he's about 6 months old, I think thats about right, he's not fat at all, growing all the time and active most of the day - it has been suggested by other experienced members on here, that if a young Sav appears fat, then the basking temperatures are probably too low

His body should be wider than his head, but should be sleak, belly held off the ground and not round, check out Infernalis's pics for a comparison with your own, his Savs are in great shape

Hi, a diet of 50% inverts (not only "insects") to 50% vertebrates is fine for captive Savannah monitors. Wayne`s pair at one time were positively underfed in my opinion, and in quite poor body condition for healthy, acclimated captives. I`m referring to them as young adults, not when they were hatchlings/juveniles), though the latest pics/video shows much improvement, so I would advise the OP to check those.

Can you post some pictures for us? That is positively the best way to start answering some of your questions.

Also- very important, make sure you are providing adequate basking temps for your monitor. Most of us utilize temps in the mid 140s *F.

Hi, he/she looks fine to me in those photos, so I suggest keep doing what you`re doing for now....

looks good, not fat, just right. I agree with Stefan.
