If it's ONLY when you hold it for a prolonged period of time it could easily be "out of breath" and exhaling loudly.

What are your temps?

it's pretty warm in the room i keep it in, which is the only one availabe. it's about 83 on the cool side and 92 on the hot side.

Might wanna lower the cool side but for an ri the first thing is to raise temps so it should be ok.
