You should add a temp and humidity gauge to see what your inside temps are first. If it's between 40-60% you don't need a towel, your humidity is fine. To much humidity is bad for a king snake. I would just put another hide by the water and you should be alright.

Yeah I know I needed a thermometer in there and when I was buying all the stuff for the cage I bought it and I left it in the store like an idiot.
