Funny behavior

So recently I switched my GTP to a 2 foot wide by 1.5 foot tall (guestimating) tub with 4 pvc pipes of varying lengths etc. etc.

Temps are good, Humidity is a bit high because the ambient humidity in my area is ridiculous at the moment (between 80 and 90%)

Heres the deal, I have a few plants in there, they have always been in there, and were in his exoterra as well.

After switching him to the tub I decided to just put them in little planter cups because I have no substrate. Hes very active and while cruising around sometimes he knocks them over (he cruises around ALL night now)

Heres the weird part: when the cups are laying on their sides, I start hearing noises and go over to check whats up and hes got his face in the cup, pushing around in the peat moss / dirt getting all dirty.....

I even left the top of his cage open for a bit since my apartment is pretty warm and humid anyways, to see if he was active because he wanted out, but he never left the tub. Even if I try to coerce him out, he won't leave.

Anyone see this weird face in the dirt behavior before?

Your snake thinks it's a pig.

Maybe it just wants to go somewhere cooler.

Re: Funny behavior

When we moved ours to the 4x2x2 foot viv at first the humidity was a little low so we put 1-2inches of sphagnum moss over most of the floor space, the first night he was burrowing through it and hiding himself in it. After a couple of days he went back to his normal perching.

This shouldn't be just dismissed. Constant cruising can often be caused by a snake looking for way out of its current husbandry.

Probably just checking the new place out give him a few days to settle. I am sure smy got his husbandry just right.

Did you read the whole thing? I left the top open to see if he'd make his way out, he doesn't even come out when I entice him. And its only at night when he cruises, in the day he sits in the same spot all day. I also didn't dismiss it, I came to the forums for answers, just poking a bit of fun at the same time.

Re: Funny behavior

My bad dude. Didn't put 2+2 together with the tank top open point. You are right though.

And BTW, if it is Narnia, please send me an invitation

Is he luring at the same time? Could be a part of him hunting.

Not at the same time while his head is in the dirt, but in between his escapades in the plant cups hes luring 99% of the time. The only thing that is a bit off at the moment like I said is humidity is always between 70 - 90 these days. Maybe hes just super hungry and I need to start feeding him more?
