Re: Scared for my boa
Well said Snakesitter. On the topic of IBD, if anyone suggests it, always take it with a grain of salt. People are all too eager to suggest it.. My burm picks up his head to get a clear view out of his cage all the time, I posted a picture and it was immediately diagnosed as IBD. Almost two years later and his "IBD" still hasn't killed him. Hmm..
I too would guess physical injury. It's possible she could have hurt herself. I know of one person with a retic that struck and hit the wall of its cage, and screwed up its neck. They ultimately decided to put it down if I remember right. Not saying that's what you should do, but just saying it's possible she injured herself. I'd get an X-Ray done and see what the vet has to say.

I asked if she had her tested for IBD. In the video her boa shows symptoms of IBD; stargazing, neck twisting, unable to turn itself upright. I never said her boa has IBD just curious if she had it tested..

There are other causes for all those things though. In addition, IBD has been misdiagnosed so many times based on supposed symptoms that it's hard to know which are definitely symptoms of IBD. The fact is that very, very little is known about this virus, though there was a recent study done which concluded that IBD is related to Ebola and Marburg, the filoviruses, as well as Lassa.

Re: Scared for my boa
I don't know if it's IBD or not, but there is definitely something wrong with her. It sucks too because she's such a beautiful snake! Hope everything turns out the way you want it to can you post update videos once in a while?

It doesnt show so well in my poor quality web cam thing but her spine from about 10 verts in her neck to about the same in her lower back towards her tail are all ganked up. Its like her neck doesnt align with her skull. We will probably do xrays today. he gave me the last appt for the day and its the same vet for the zoo and the desert museum. I am so fortunate to have him as my vet. He gave me the last appt and said he would stay there until 9 until he figured this out and offered a free post mortum since he cant figure it out either.
