Re: Scared for my boa

Taken directly from vin russo's "Complete boa constrictor" :
Most boa's thrive with ambiant temperatures of 80 - 85 with a hot spot recommended of 88 - 95... (Non breeding boas)...

Hmm, looks like I wasn't wrong. What the hell do I know? You all have obviously done many reptile studies and have written many knowledgeable books making you a recognized member of the vast reptile community.

OK and wrong again on it getting too hot above. If I am providing a basking spot of 92 degrees via a lamp and presumably a ledge or the top of a hide for the animal to bask on, thermodynamics says the area around will also absorb the heat making the appropriate temperature gradient. Its all about finding the proper wattage

There how does it feel to talk to someone that has a clue?
I said make sure it doesn't get hot directly below the bulb for a reason. You know what bearded dragons are? The basking spot for them is 100-110 degrees depending on their age. People achieve this 100-110 with just one bulb so I'm pretty sure BD keepers don't have any basking super powers. You're obviously the father of thermodynamics though.

you do know there are different watts right... actually, no, you have already proven to provide bad info not just here but in other places as well. If I wanted false info I'd make it up myself :/

Read another post about my agreement with Korbin, all information leading up to that deal has a big *VOID* sticker on it.

But the problem is you dont fact check before you lay out information. What if I had no one elses input and went off of yours and my boa died. It would be your false and misinformation that would have caused me to believe you were indeed right. Double check facts before you post them. Lose the snark when others call you out on it. Step down and admit you are wrong without sounding like a jackass braying to try and get the last word in. Any time you are called out on something, rather than admit you were wrong you do this:

I was wrong, and I already agreed to change the way I'm contributing to the forum. What you're doing is called instigating, there's ways to communicate and explain things without coming off as rude. I can't do much else unless you want me to bake you a pie, but that might not be so great through the mail...

You know crap all. Let me make that very clear. I have seen your other posts and they are terrible. You have no idea what the hell you're talking about 90% of the time.

And let's just mildly entertain the idea you had some kind of clue *you* would have quoted the source of your information instead of waiting for someone to do it for you if it existed at all in the first place. Sometimes the sun shines on even the most unfortunate dog's behind once in a while.

I'm going to ignore the obvious insult about my gender/ appearance and remind you to read what I wrote.

Actually, this is pretty much a myth made popular by the chain pet store companies. In the wild, bearded dragons live where the surface temperatures can get up to 150F. In captivity, many keepers have a basking spot as high as a monitor's basking spot (130-135) and they thrive. The even have less health problems than most big box pet store care sheet kept beardies.

Re: Scared for my boa

I have beardies.
Mine was 127º 30 minutes ago when I did my temp check on everyone.
If its too hot they move but after a meal they will bask for a couple hours. I let my setup night drop to about 75º. 14 hrs day cycle summer 12 in winter. Night drop in the summer is normaly 80-85º. So yeah I know beardies too

Exactly. And along that line, I know people who give boas a much higher basking spot, too. To achieve this, they have a much larger enclosure with lots of hides and crevaces, and they still have a great cool spot. Again, no problems there. They eat, they bask in the very high basking spot for a short period of time, then they move.

Movement is always excercise and good for the snake.

I'm not going to be posting things I don't know 100% anymore, I've had an agreement with Korbin. Read other posts as I've already clarified it around five times. I never insulted your gender nor appearance though so I'm not sure what that's about.

You called her the 'FATHER' of thermodynamics.

Do you NOT see the gender problem? It's a WOMAN you're referring too.

By the way, what does the age of a bearded dragon have to do with the temperature of it's basking spot?
