Fair point. If the snake can sliter to her, it's obviously not being held as it's passing the mirror.

so i drape it around my neck? from all the stuff i have been told and read i am suppose to support it with two hands away from my neck. So to slither to me means to slither to my shoulders/face- where, before i was scolded for even having one near my shoulders.

so I can infer that you are pausing long enough so he can see himself. When and IF I have to bring my boa into my bathroom WITH a mirror she never freaks because I make sure she cant see herself.

I am seriously not picking a fight with you. I really dont care what you do or think. but dont pass on wrong info to someone who may read it and think he can get a snake and they will be best friends,
Good grief, this is ridiculous. YOU have no information with which to make a judgment here. You also have no information by which to refute the claim.

SO you cannot say it is wrong information, nor can you say you are helping any snake or reptile along the way. Keep your opinion to yourself until such time as you can prove it to be true. Then we might believe it will have some positive effect.

Re: Funny things my snakes do

We just had an entire thread about this, and came to the reasonable conclusion that it really isnt worth discussing any further. Then a day later you guys start in on someone again about thinking their reptile has emotions. Please leave it be and stop picking on people for their beliefs. If you want to supposedly refute this with evidence that we can all learn from (and by evidence I mean actual research, not your unhelpful conjecture) then by all means bring that to the table. Until then lets just understand that people have both opinions, and that they probably arent going to agree or for that matter convince each other otherwise.

I don't know what you do. But if it's slithering to you, it's obviously not being held. Something you're holding can't slither to you.

Really? I've never had anyone make me feel like an idiot for posting anything.

its not really that i think they have emotions, its more or less what they do- like JR with his mouth open, in my mind if he were personified he would be happy and excited about something. I just like to look further than "oh its a snake, doing snake things". Without some funny things they do its just not a fun hobby, then its just "here take care of this animal till it dies". There is no fun, no joy, no real reason to me to keep them if I cannot enjoy the things they do.

and you should enjoy them but anthropomorphizing is different,

At least in my opinion. Please if my idiot conjuncture is distracting you from joy then disregard it

No one said you can't enjoy the things they do. We've both said repeatedly that you can, just without making assumptions.

See, the problem in this lies in the information other people get. What if someone who doesn't know any better, maybe even a kid, comes on here - a forum about and for snakes - and reads that your snake opens its mouth to say thank you? So then any time a snake opens its mouth, whether in agression or agitation or as a threat, they think it's saying "thank you." Can you see how that kind of false idea could lead to problems?

Re: Funny things my snakes do

Ill feel better when people stop using the excuse of 'Im doing it for the animals' to pick on others, when they themselves have no real idea what they are talking about and are, in fact, doing nothing more than creating discord in an otherwise normally friendly forum.

"as if to say..." as in if i had to put words to describe how his face looked. Does it mean he is happy? Probably not, but if i had to describe over the phone to someone what my snake was doing thats how id do it, otherwise "open mouth" could lead down a wide road of different things. He could have been yawning, or even just hanging out with his mouth open. Me describing the way he did it? I dont feel that is a fair reason to jump my ship. If someone cannot read context clues, get back to school because i didnt say "HE OPENED HIS MOUTH TO SAY THANK YOU" i used "as if". I hope i can become jaded as the rest of you have become. I feel this thread could have been a thread about funny behaviors you witness with your animal, instead it has de-evolved into a "who can crap on who". That's sad. How can you expect people to ask for help when you are so jaded on a thread that didnt even need it. >:/

"Jarich; hero to the worthless cause and champion of the underdog. Devils Advocate to all, just to stir up poop".
Anyone: "The sky is blue Jarich".
Jarich: "no its not, you have no proof, that's just your opinion!"
