Spiny Backed Orb Weaving spider

He's so tiny...and so pretty!

A long time ago there was an orb weaver that lived by my back door. I used to go sit on the steps and watch it (and I had a huge fear of spiders back then) all the time. Such a fascinating creature, even though I feared it! About 2 months after I discovered it, it was gone.

I have no idea what happened to it but I hope it lived a nice long life.

They are really fascinating! I just moved a chair up next to it last night to watch him, and I got to see him feed!
