Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)

They (Littlefoot & Cera) are already displaying some behaviours that are not typical.

But then again, I don't keep mine "typical".....

Re: Littlefoot & Cera (New video & pictures)

Speaking of enrichment, apart from problems to solve like pinkies in a hole, I thought of another method to provide enrichment. Just stick in new stuff, particularly things with a scent. For instance, pieces of fruit. Just stuff that can't hurt them if they decide it looks tasty. Or you could hook a speaker up on the wall and play different sounds on it.. Quiet enough that they could only hear it when they got close to the speaker of course, so if they disliked it, they would be able to avoid it. Just some thoughts I had.

Blame it on Channel 5 mate.

Episodes 1 & 2 of "Britain's strangest pets" featured this pampered lizard.

Haha, that's awesome, but if my snake is EVER going to get a tv set, he's gonna have to pay for it himself. Good luck Misha, that's alot of car scrubbing.

Yes, exactly.

And it makes people think that lumbering lizards that have to drag their fat belly on the floor is "normal"

Hector (The big monitor) could never function in the wild like this.. unable to outrun prey or predator.

It is such a shame as the owner obviously adores all his animlas but just doesnt know any better, ifonly he would/could educate himself on the proper care i feel sure he would spend thousands putting things right.

If you recall his reply on that same subject "Man used to sleep on dirt during the stone ages, now we sleep on beds, why should Hector be any different"

So I have to assume it's been brought up before, or he would not have said that.

Precisely Shane, we are not the Neanderthal man, we have evolved.

Varanids achieved perfection millions of years ago, so they have not evolved much since.

It's that primeval spirit that makes them so damn awesome (to me)
