Hypoerythristic Mex Mex Hatching...

This is the second year in a row this gene has been proven to be codominant.
This hatchling is the result of a Black Phase male X a Hypo-E female......And it is definitely Hypo-E.....

Last year I got a killer hypo-e male from this pairing.....I am hoping for a female for him this year.......

I agree Ross.....
It may be more than just codom.....
I will discuss them at a later date.....
I think some breeding trials next year will clear some things up.....

Do you have any pictures of adults with the same genetics?

Here's this guy after he emerged last night:

Here are the parents to this one hatching:

Here's a male offspring from the same sire and dam last year:

Here is the sibling male to the female Dam pictured above:

For Comparison...Here is a classic/normal Mex Mex hatchling....Notice the "maroon" saddles......They typically lighten to red with maturity. The Hypoerythristics are light red when they hatch and lighten to pink/salmon with maturity.....

And here is a Classic/Normal yearling:

The goal is to produce Black Mex Mex with pink/salmon saddles.
Then there is the granite & ultra granite gene to throw into the gene pool:

Then Striping:

Some snakes just can't be beat with their normal coloring. Those are all wicked cool looking though!

Wow! They're stunning! I would love to see these with a motley pattern but those granite pattern ones are hard to beat too! That hypo-e color is cool, I'm on my phone, it means what exactly?

Re: Hypoerythristic Mex Mex Hatching...

Hypo-e is an abbreviation for hypoerythristic.
The prefix hypo means reduced. The pigment reduced is erythrin (red).
So these are reduced red pigment Mex Mex......resulting in pink or salmon colored saddles that are normally red.

Thanks Lisa and Kyle.....
