Just sayin'
I completely understand the excitement of "In the goo" but I always find the pics a little disgusting, lol. Not sure if anyone else feels this way but I think I'd rather just see the babies post first shed.

Re: Just sayin'
It's essentially just egg yolk or something, don't see what's so disgusting. Because there isn't a chicken in there?

Oh yeah I understand, that's exactly what I meant. I'll probably be one of the worst offenders these days.

The real purpose is to prove the genetics of the parenting.

Re: Just sayin'
I think it's adorable!!,
That GOO is parts of the incredible network to make the babies grow and stay alive!!!! It's way cool!!
Though I guess other people have different tastes ect,
I mean, this sounds funny, I think it's amassing seeing the goo and the babys come out of the egg,
But I find it quite stomach churning when a see a human birth or... How can I put this appropriatelly.... A 'non egg' birth.. Lol

Re: Just sayin'
This is about boas giving birth... which is non-egg. He is talking about the mass of mess and babies.

Re: Just sayin'
I'm inclined to align myself with Wildside on this one. I tend to skip those threads, lol.
What I find disturbing when it comes to photos are feeding pics. I mean, we all know what it looks like, we've all seen it countless times, and yes it is part of keeping snakes, however, I've always felt that if someone thinks that's the best aspect or most exciting thing about their snake, they're very likely keeping snakes for all the wrong reasons.
My goal as always been to promote the beauty of the animal and help people understand what they're actually all about, and that has *never* entailed showing them photos of one of my animals engulfing another animal. In 25 years I've only taken 3 photos of one of my snakes eating and it was strictly to help a new owner understand what size food they should be offering their own snake - it was a specific request to help someone, which I granted, but will not do again.
It's not that I find feeding snakes (or other reptiles) distasteful, it's that I find the need to show it off to the world distasteful, which kinda brings us back to the goo - I too understand the excitement of it all, but we all know what it looks like and I'm sure people would rather see the clean babies a couple of days later. I know I would.
Food for thought

Great post. I really like that philosophy on feeding. Slightly confused on how it connects with the goo...

Same idea, Kevin - we all know what it looks like, there are no shortage of online images for those who want to see what it's about and it's just not the most attractive feature to show. Of course, in the same token I can understand the excitement for those experiencing it, just as Wildside mentioned. I would probably just keep those images to myself and share the *really* exciting part - clean, healthy baby snakes
