what to put in leos tank

so... ive read/watched that less is more with them? i have a 20gallong long with flexwat set at 90 for the warm side... some dishes for meal worms and water... now:

i read to put calsium in a dish and keep it in there... is bearded dragon calsium ok to use? or does it have to be leo specific.

also i cant find D3 supplement...

what about cage decor? lots of litle?

again, im reading/watching conflicting info.... like always!

calcium powder does not need be leo specific. I usually kept some powder in the dish with mealworms. In eating the mealworms they would the get some calcium at the same time. You calcium powder does not have a D3 supplement?

Give them lots of rough textured broad (as thick as their body or thicker) things to climb. They are inquiitive little devils and will explore if you provide for them. I would change items out or move them around every couple of weeks or so with my girl. Always saw a marked increase in activity after such a change up.

For the calcium dish use normal rep cal or whatever. It does need d3 like dragons eye said. The flexwatt should only be on one end of the tank.

yup, the flexwat is only on one end, not under the whole thing, it covers just about 1/3 or maybe a little less...

Re: what to put in leos tank

The calcium you leave in the tank 24/7 must be pure calcium (no D3), however you will dust your feeders with calcium with D3 a couple times a week and a multivitamin once a week.
Leos can overdoes on D3, so that is why the stuff in the tank much be just calcium but they need limited amounts of D3 to properly absorb the calcium.
Make sense?

Oh and for things in the tank, you need 3 hides (1 hot side, 1 cool side and 1 humid). My leo seems to enjoy the fake star cactus type plants, as they provide cover from above and makes my girl more at ease.

Okay, thanks for the imput, that is excactly what the breed told me to do as well... i got her saturday and shes only at 2 small dubia roaches, and a small meal worm. hope it is just because she is stressed out from the ride home and new enclosure and stuff.

The calcium you keep in a dish in the tank should not contain D3. The multivitamin you dust the insects with once per week should have all the D3 a leo needs.
