Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)
These might be one of the most feared snakes on earth but they are seriously a pleasure to work with !
They calm down extremely well in captivity (If housed and handled correctly) and are in my opinion one of the most intelligent snakes around !
Here are two pics of the a "small" male feeding...I hope you enjoy them as I'll be adding some more of his girls soon !
Regards
Louis.

I love black mambas! Jameson's Mambas are nice too (some of them kind of remind me of Spot).
Very pretty snake here, thanks for posting.

Thank you guys !
@MoreliAddict, Do you keep Jameson's mambas (D.j.jamesoni) ? They are my fav. of the Dendroaspis genus but I've only had bad luck with them thus far.

No way!
I watch all of viperkeeper's vids on youtube, he's shown a few of them off. Gorgeous snakes, and according to viperkeeper they stress out very easily which makes them a bit of a challenge. His black mambas on the other hand seem somewhat tame and used to him, which goes along with what you stated in the op.

************ is a complete douche who abuses lizards and then has the nerve to say "that's my wife's monitor"
He thinks Savs are from the desert and refuses to accept otherwise.

Gorgeous black mambas!! I love them, but I doubt I'll ever have the cojones to own them. My monocled cobra, Shelby, is enough of a handful.

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)
Nice! Okay, so how can you tell how intelligent a snake is? Seriously! What makes these snakes stand out as more intellegent? I have never been around any hots before, actually. Only dopey (though i love mine) ball pythons, a few silly hognoses, sand boas, a bolivan boa and a carpet. My carpet is probaby the one that shows the most alertness, however she has taken the longest to tame...though i've heard that's how they are.

Re: Dendroaspis polylepis (Black mambas)
Thanks guys...
@jaleely, It's hard to put it in words but I'm sure most keepers that have worked with a lot of snakes including King cobras would be able to comment on this. It's as if they are just more "calculating" than other snakes. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to experience it someday ?

That's the general gist of it. They're always watching, they look like they're plotting and scheming. They recognize and remember things and seem to develop "preferences" sometimes, more than the BP that will only accept a certain color food. I dunno, its kinda just something you have to experience. I would say my retic is one of the smarter snakes I've been around, definitely the smartest in my collection.
