I use the metric system as I prefer it to the imperial... Being in OZ the whole country uses it anyway lol.

Scientific equations are also based on the metric system which makes it easier SI units of measurements..

As to the question why snakes are refered to in grams... simple the rest of the world uses it and being the interweb, we are all from different places. Metric being the predominant unit of measurements in the world, snakes = metric.

Ok I can see that however Black Betty is still 26 lbs or should I say 12,000 grams?

12 kg or kilograms is 12000 grams. With numbers over 1000grams or sometimes less you would just say in kg. 500 grams is 0.5kg. 1000grams 1kg. By the way, no matter how you say it, 26lbs or 12kg, we can all understand that you have one BIG snake--that is a concept that transcends measurement systems. pictures?
