Reptile Myths
Been hearing a few myths about reptiles that I'd like to get confirmed as fact or fiction...
True or false: A burmese python can lay up to 100 eggs
True or false: If crocodile eggs are too warm or too cold, they offspring will all be female
Anyone know the real answers?
Feel free to add to the list of myths yourselves.

i have heard burms can lay up to 100 eggs on tv, i am yet to ever hear of said person who has proof. most i know to be true is around 50. and the croc thing is true, or at least i believe it, i know geckos do.

Not true about Burmese's, but i know Green Anacondas can have up words to 100 babies.
On the Croc it's true.

The more a snake breeds, the more prolific a breeder it can become, and since Burmese are one of the giants, the eggs can come in great numbers, but I'd think 100 is a little on the high side.
As for the croc temperature thing, I believe that is true.

Wow, that's way out there, lol. They do indeed have the hardest hit I've ever seen on a snake, but the idea that a snake can break bones with a strike is simply ridiculous, so I'd chalk that one-up to pure myth

It doesn't take a lot of pressure properly applied to break a bone so sure, I'd go with true on that.
The most common snake myth I've ever heard is that they're slimy. I have no idea where that comes from.

I would have thought the snakes skull would be weaker than the bone in your leg so the skull would disintegrate rather than the legbone tho

Depends on witch bone in the leg as well
the Femur is the strongest bone in the human body, but if memory serves, the fubla (the smaller of the two bones in your calf) is considerably weaker
honestly I would buy fracturing it, maybe not a full break tho

That's why I stipulated 'properly applied'. I think it would likely be a freak accident if it were to happen.

The myth that irritates me the most is not to let a snake lay beside you because they're measuring you up for food.

Up untill 6 weeks ago I had never heard that, since I got my snake seems like every time I tell someone Iv'e got her they tell me that story. Its starting to annoy me.
