Re: Anyone have bunnies?
I have eaten several temporary pets. I don't mind at all I just don't like to use their name when I am serving them..lol I think the only animal I couldn't eat would be a dog. Then again if it was to piss me off enough and I was hungry.,......

Re: Anyone have bunnies?
As far as humane slaughter goes, eating chicken/turkey/duck is far worse than pigs and cows. Even if they're not enforced, there are humane slaughter laws that protect how pigs and cows should be slaughtered. There are no laws whatsoever that protect any birds and how they are slaughtered in the food industry.
I've tried rabbit and guinea pig before I was vegetarian. Rabbit is delishhhh. But I know better now Also, we can take more of this discussion back over The Vegetarian Thread if you want. It might be more appropriate there, than on this cute bunny thread

I do eat fish, chicken, and turkey. I've been thinking a lot about it lately though.

Is pushing cows over with bulldozers and letting them live in like 6 feet of their own feces one of the humane slaughter laws? If so thats disgusting.
Just saying. The main reason I stopped eating pork and beef because it made me feel gross. I don't know any other way to explain it.

Re: Anyone have bunnies?
Hahaha that bulldozer bit is pretty funny. Who fed you that?
Cows are a considerable investment for farmers that DO NOT have a high return. So it is in the farmers best interest to make sir his cows are fairly well taken care of. Kinda like a car. If you want to get any money out of it you wouldn't take a baseball bat to it would you?
Chickens on the other hand are raised in deplorable conditions. They can be harvested in 2 to 3 months. Are extremely cheap to purchase and feed. They are not well treated. Hence why vegans love to use chickens in their evil propaganda!

Re: Anyone have bunnies?
There was a great show on tv couple of years back called Kill it, Cook it, Eat it. Each week they took an animal from its farm through the normal slaughter process but let people watch, they then butchered it and cooked it in front of them before serving it to the live viewers.
Not sure what it is like in the US but having worked in a UK slaughterhouse the animals are treated with the utmost respect throughout the process, obviously as in all trades there are disreputable places but the vast majority are fantastic.

They are trying to raise awareness about the maltreatment of chickens in slaughterhouses; how is that "evil"? Also, pretty sure it's animal rights advocates who do that, not necessarily vegans

HAHAHAHA ok well since you said vegan = evil and that I could find it on the internet, I checked. Now, I'm a vegetarian but I have a good sense of humor and thought this website was hilarious: Vegetarians are Evil I never "preach" to anyone about my dietary choices nor do I ever impose them on anyone or anything like that. If I get asked for information about it, that's when I talk about it. Or to correct misinformation people aren't aware is false. But that website really made me crack up My favorite is if you click on the left to "Vegan Killers." Amazing the drastic correlations people are willing to draw out

As long as the animals that are going to be eaten are treated well I don't mind it but if they are being starved or over fed [to the point they are obese and can't stand up at all!] isn't right at all and makes me sick.

...like the chicken and turkey you eat? Unless you personally see the animal before you eat it, chances are it was overfed to the point it couldn't stand up to maximize meat per poultry. Sorry kiddo, we live in a world where most animals raised for food who are raised in slaughterhouses are in horrendous conditions. Poultry aren't even protected by an humane slaughter laws. Ugh, I hate talking about this stuff- it's really saddening.
