Exclamation boa shedding problems/nose burn

hey guy`s thanks for all your help with my python

ok so here is my question ,
my boa alice is having some shedding problem`s
usually she shed`s very nicley always one peice shed`s
take`s usually 3 day`s from blue eye faze
since her last shed about a month ago i think she burned her nose
it is a black spot that look`s to be a burn but maybe is from rubbing
i have been puting a small amount of polysporin on it
and now she is having problems shedding she went into blue eye faze
about 6 day`s ago she is clear eye now skin look`s rough
with parts of it coming off i put her in her new cabinet inbetween this
because i wanted her to have optimum heat and humidity she is loving it but still has not shed.

so i soaked her in a warm bath with a towel in the bottom for about 30 mins to 1 hour and put her back in the cabinet and it has been about 4 hour`s and still no shed
please guys any advice you can give would help

thanks alot!!

Re: boa shedding problems/nose burn

every shed is different, it definitely takes more than 4 hours, just be patient, when she's ready, she'll shed.

Ours just had a rough shed. We gave him a bath and pulled it off in little chunks. Posting a pic of her nose would help a lot.

Re: boa shedding problems/nose burn

she is a red tail her cage is 5 feet tall 3 feet wide and 2 feet deep
she is 4 feet long and weights close to 4 pound`s
i helped peel off all her skin she seemed much happier after this even tried to kill my hamster again her nose where she got injured is white and red like a fresh wound
im asuming because her skin came off it exposed it .
i have put more polysporin on it wich she does not mind at all

Re: boa shedding problems/nose burn

oh and her humidty was at 78% while she was in shed
now i droped it down to 70% then eventuly 60%

her temps our in the hottest basking area 92 degress the top half of her cage is
85 degress bottom half is 76 degress so she can choose whatever she like`s and a big bowl with a fogger to soak in

Any update you could give us about this? How's her nose burn? You said you'd post pics but we never got them. I hope everything's ok!

Re: boa shedding problems/nose burn

put her in a tub with a few wet towels, moss, sponge, anything really and keep it warm, leave until she has shed. It could easily take 4 or 5 hours to get a bad one off. You can peridocally help, by just gently rubbing your hand down the snake from head to tail, this will also help loosen the old skin.

Re: boa shedding problems/nose burn

Try introducing a moist hide into her enclosure where she can hang out in the very very humid micro enviroment as long as she wants to get pesky shed off. BTW how would or could she burn her nose? Do you mean from rubbing on something or an actual burn? You can also try a Mineral Oil bath, ie poor some in your hands and coat the snake in it in your bath tub. Its like hand lotion for snakes!
