Hi all!
Meet my son Tooch!
Tooch and I met at an expo about a month ago. He is active, alert, always hungry, almost always up in the vines, and never fails to put on a show or entertain. He has been a pleasure to work with.
Tooch and I have been wondering what type of carpet he is. We know he is at least half jungle (could be 100%) and we wanted you all to take a shot. Make sure you check out the link for HD video of him! (I got an awesome focus on his face at the end)
Enjoy!
Meet Tooch

He looks to me like a coastal/jungle cross. Unfortunately most carpets offered on the market today, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are a mixture of localities. He's a good-looking boy for sure, so just enjoy him as he is.

Red, Marvel, what are some of the indications that he's a coastal? Especially with how young he is?

Mainly the marking. On Jungles the marking are more like lighting bolts. Plus you have particle striping long the side which is a Coastal treat. In Carpets Coastal and Bredli are the only one that i know with striping. Then the head pattern look more like a Coastal than Jungle pattern. Last the head shape. Coastal i think tend to have a longer, slimmer head shape than Jungles. I could be wrong, but this is what makes me believe it's a Coastal.

Thank you all, everyone here is always so helpful.
Tooch and I are really excited to learn he is part coastal. (his mother was a jungle with very bright yellow)
I don't keep alot of snakes so I'm more than happy that one will be my big boy

Re: Profile: Tooch *carpet experts needed
We can all speculate as much as we want but the true nature of the specimen will never be known unless you actually find the breeder & they actually know what snakes were bred to create it.
It could be ANY combo of Diamond, Jungle, Bredli, IJ & Coastal as one never knows whom is crossing what to make Jaguars
Lots of Diamond Jungle jags out there pumping out plain sibs as well as jags afterall
It could be a simple 2 subspecies cross or could have as many as 3-5 subspecies mixed together depending on the parental stock.
The striping is a good indication of having either some Bredli or CCP as already mentioned & the fact that Jaguars all orginate from Coastals I'd say its a pretty safe bet to guess Coastal X something(s), but its ALL just speculation.
We can all confirm its a Carpet Python but what type or type(s) IS & always will be pure speculation at this point.
If it were a "pure" subspecies specimen I too would go with Coastal.
I'm thinking in all likelihood it is a Jaguar sibling & is a CCP X of some sort Cheers Mark
edit - rereading the above I guess we know its 50% JCP if the mother was a pure JCP

I agree with Mark, bummer you never can tell. Very pretty carpet though. Be very very careful, they can be awfully addicting!
