In & Out of Blue with No Shed
My carpet python was in blue (meaning His eyes were covered in blue) about 4-5 days ago. He is no longer in blue from what I can tell (it's not too easy to check him out because I've let him be in the viv since I noticed the blue in the first place). Over the past week he has been spending several hours a day in the water dish. He also refused a meal last night.
Is this abnormal or should I be expecting a shed any day? Thoughts?
Thanks in advance

They go into blue then when it goes away that's when they shed.

Re: In & Out of Blue with No Shed
Sometimes it may take up to a week from the time they are blue before shed.
The old skin returns to clear just before to several days before they peel it off.

Re: In & Out of Blue with No Shed
ya, I was kind of wondering too. My okeetee's head is starting to look a little irridecent, which I swear was not there before! her eyes have not clouded and her colors have not dulled, just this shiny almost gaseous looking spot on the top of her head!
Apparently she had "just shed" when I brought her home Sept 1, 2011. and she is almost 3 yrs old, so I wasn't "expecting" her to shed anytime soon.
Any thoughts??

Thanks!
I'll post pics after he sheds as he hasn't been properly introduced yet.

My corn sheds at irregular intervals, and he's 5 years old.

Re: In & Out of Blue with No Shed
so do you think the irredecence is a prelude to her shedding??

Could be the oils in between the shed catching the light........

Re: In & Out of Blue with No Shed
Interesting, so I guess I should be watching her for eye clouding then?

Yeah, remember not to handle. Though corns seem to shed fine no matter what! That's why I love corns easiest husbandry ever IMO

Re: In & Out of Blue with No Shed
ahh crap! she's my favorite to handle!! Khuno is too small and wriggly, and Helios is still a bit of an ***, but hubby's making progress with him!
I guess I'll have to leave her and see what happens.

Re: In & Out of Blue with No Shed
Handling during the orocess of shedding CAN cause the skin about to be shed and the new developed skin underneath to stick together and end up with a poor shed and stuck bits, best bet is to lEave them be til they are finished.
