Re: new pics

They are overseas, but due to our laws stating that no specie be exported or imported it makes them very expensive. I was talking to guy from germany the other day about this species and he said he paid 2500 euro for his male and little bit more for his female. I can ubderstand them being expensive, but never thought that they would be that price. As they have established breeders breeding them very regulary but obviously demand far out weighs their supply.
Over here you can pick one up for as little as $200 australian.

Re: new pics

Cheers Chuck he is getting bigger quite quick now, mostly getting the typical chubby adder look lol.
There are king cobra's, rattle snakes and all sorts of retics, burms, anaconda's and various other species available here. I was offered a green anaconda a year or so ago for $400, which is fairly cheap but if you are caught with any exotic species you can kiss your collection goodbye, your license revoked, a court date and a fine or jail time. So i would not buy any till they became legal as its far too much to lose im opinion.

Re: new pics

ya for sure, nothing is worth getting your collection taken, im sure we all feel the same about are snakes.....they are members of the family. $2500 for that snake, i could see that for sure, i know a guy who paid close to that for an albino king cobra a few years back, snakes in general in canada are 75% of the time much more than other places but we have a few snakes that are cheep that cost alot more other places, my bella girl cost me 2 k here a few years back, in the states at the same time around 7500

Re: new pics

Yeah its expensive when you think 2,500 euro is pretty close 3,400 canadian for a hatchy!! I would imagine with your weather that the tropical species would be hard to keep and even arid species too?

She's still the same unfortunately, however she is still eating fine/gaining weight so I'm sure she isn't uncomfortable in any way. Think she is about 24g now

Re: new pics

Oh she is very pretty, i love the purple checkers on her side and the nails really bring out her colours so they do. Thats good to hear that she is putting on weight and eating well as thats a good sign she is feeling better.
Lumi is such a pig lol i will let him know that he is your favourite, but will have to speak oh so quitely or else i will have sad and depressed snakes.

Re: new pics

Unfortunately it's not that great of a sign as she has been eating the entire time

Saw a different vet about her a couple of days ago and he has put her on a different antibiotic and has suggested I make a steam box for her, I've put her in it a couple of times but I'm not too sure how effective that's going to be due to the long respiratory tract.. What do you think?

Re: new pics

Hmm what do you mean by steam box. Is it just a hot and high humidity box? If so im not to sure that would be that great of an idea as they are not from those conditions in the wild.

Re: new pics

High humidity, I'm very skeptical but I'll try anything. Might see what Wayne thinks also on the matter

Re: new pics

Yeah Wayne would be your man, but i would highly doubt that making her sit in those conditions when she has a RI would be that great of an idea. I would of thought it would only make things worse.

Re: new pics

Just sent him a message, well like I said I'm willing to try anything as she's has this for over a month now. Got her a nice big heat lamp today so I'm going to do a dry run with that in the big viv to see what sort of temperatures I can hold down when I go back home as I'm sure she isn't too fond of being back in the nursery

Re: new pics

My juvie scrubby took over 2 months to get over hers, but there were other complications. As long as you keep giving her injections she will heal. I would try not to disturb her too much other than giving her injections, food and water for a while.
