Re: new pics
i was watching on tv that they get their name because in the wild they like to live close to humans and they will hold their ground and make no movement and take no invasion to what they call their personal space, combined with their fast acting poison they cause the most amount of deaths down under than any other snake.and they have one of the fastest stike out of all snakes. i believe the show was called 10 most deadly urban animals or somthing,, so they could have just hyped it up for tv.

Yeah, those shows typically offer little useful information IMO. As you put it, they "hype it up" to sell advertising time slots. Figured I would ask a keeper.

Re: new pics
These guys are considered docile as they are not a very active snake. They prefer to hide and lure their prey with their tails. I would not like to go near an adder while they are caudal luring, as they wiggle their tail lure to attract prey (it looks like a worm wiggling) These snakes are one of the fastest striking (if not the fastest) in the world. I believe it takes only 0.1 of a second for them to go from being dead still to biting, envenomating and back to still, this is quite literally a blink of eye.
As for the show you were watching saying they cause the most deaths here is untrue. I believe the tiger snake has killed the most people here, as they have four out of five of the toxins in their venom that will kill you and live quite close to rural towns feeding on the mice in hay sheds and dairy farms.. Also the death adders only bite because they dont flee when human interaction occurs, as they rely on their camoflage and being hidden to avoid you. Most bites occur when people step on them.
A bite from a death adder takes roughly 24 hours plus for it to hit its actual peak. Prior to hitting its peak you will have localised swelling and irritataion. Without antivenom its a 50-50 chance of survival.

Re: new pics
thx for the correction.thats why i made a comment and stated i seen it on tv :P because i was curious what the truth really was. So the show was right that they have the fastest stike 1 thing right on the whole segment is pretty good for the average tv show lol how sad is that.

Re: new pics
Now you really do have some taste terence coastal taipans are a favourite of mine. Great looking snakes especially the red/orange or black ones, but i still find inlands look a little better and usually have a slighly better temperement.
T.V shows have also let me down on many occasions freebody. I used to really think females were nice and friendly to us all, but how that show led me so far astray i have no idea
Plus one out of the many facts they said isnt too bad. Some of the rubbish we get fed about anacondas and king cobras blow my mind. I dont know how they think they can get away with so much verbal diarrhea here. I suppose it will never affect anyone here at least as we cant keep either species, but could cause dramas if some were to travel and take these shows seriously.

Unfortunetely i dont think the red missile is going to happen any more. I spoke to the person quite recently after reading about a theft up that way. Seems that someone stole pretty much his entire collection whilst he was moving house.
The scrubs were stolen as well as some nice rpm childreni and heaps of hots aswell. We seem to be having more and more reptile thefts occuring lately, just goes to show the kind of scum that are out there.
